Portal No. 31 Mine
Take a trip with us to the Portal No. 31 Mine in Lynch, Kentucky — the heart of Kentucky’s richest coalfields. We will:
- experience traveling through a coal mine by rail car as we enjoy the exhibits along the way.
- see a 1920’s lamphouse, bathhouse, L & N train depot, and loadout system.
- take a walking tour around the site to learn the rich history of the Portal 31 mining complex. At peak production, this Harlan County mine was the largest in the world.
Pickup Locations
All tours pick up in Central Kentucky and Lexington. Other pickups will be determined by attendee locations.
